Bio

My research is primarily directed towards identifying novel molecular mechanisms in the process of long-term memory formation. Currently, we are focused on characterizing the role of epigenetic mechanisms, such as histone modifications, DNA methylation, and signaling cascades that mediate the interaction of transcription factors to chromatin. The overall goal is to increase our understand of how these processes participate in the regulation of gene expression in healthy brain cells as they relate to learning and memory and how they are deranged in memory deficits associated with epilepsy and aging.
