I am a Professor in the Department of Neurosciences at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. I received my Ph.D. in Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training at UCSF, Stanford, and Genentech before joining the UC San Diego faculty in 2005. My laboratory applies mouse models of spinal cord injury to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying endogenous neural repair after CNS injury. I served on the SfN Program Committee from 2019–2024, including terms as Theme A Vice Chair (2022–2023) and Chair (2023–2024). I also served as Co-Vice Chair for the 2023 Gordon Research Conference on CNS Injury and Repair and Co-Chair for the 2025 meeting.
