Bio

Heather McKellar, PhD, is a program coordinator at the NYU Neuroscience Institute and founder of NOGN, the Neuroscience Outreach Group at NYU. Dr. McKellar studied with Dr. Joseph Gogos at Columbia University and brings her background in cellular and molecular neuroscience as well as over five years of experience developing educational programs to the Neuroscience Institute. She was honored for her work as a member of Columbia University Neuroscience Outreach with the 2011 Next Generation Award from SfN. She is an educator at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and is the NYU representative to the Greater New York City Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience. Through her work with NOGN and "braiNY", the outreach arm of the Greater NYC Chapter, Dr. McKellar continues to visit schools, to create events that target diverse audiences and to organize "braiNY" programs that rely upon volunteers from multiple institutions.
