I started my neuroscience career in 1997, by entering graduate school at the University of Nevada, Reno.
I studied axon guidance in fetal mouse—specifically, the TPOC in E9-E12.
After graduation, I was fortunate to obtain a post-doc position at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, studying learning and memory in Drosophila. I enjoyed the work, the lab, the people, the high-octane atmosphere of Cold Spring Harbor Lab immensely. However, I made a decision to return to Nevada. The first year back in Nevada, I was interim lecturer for two undergraduate/graduate courses: Neurobiology and Development. After that year, I returned to full-time post-doc work. I now study axon transport and growth factors. We are currently developing a transcription profile for human strabismic eye muscle.
