Program Description

The Neuroscience program in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Biomedical Science at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is designed to prepare students to receive the Ph.D. degree with an emphasis in Neuroscience. An M.S. degree may be awarded only in special circumstances. The objective of the program is to train individuals as research scientists and educators in the field of Neuroscience. The program provides students with exposure to a stimulating research environment with state-of-the-art techniques, well-supported core facilities and internationally recognized faculty. Students participate in highly integrated research programs that encompass cellular and molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, neuroscience methods, neurochemistry, neurophysiology, neuropathology, neurodegeneration, neuropharmacology. Students may also be exposed to multiple aspects of cellular and molecular biology, immunology, immunopathology, virology and behavior/cognitive assays.
